The Pink Protocol is committed to protecting your privacy, maintaining appropriate confidentiality and providing therapy within professional, ethical and legal frameworks.

The information below summarises some of the key arrangements that apply to therapy. Further information is provided within your Therapeutic Contract.

Confidentiality

Your privacy and confidentiality are fundamental to the therapeutic relationship. Information shared during therapy will be treated confidentially and handled with care and protected from unauthorised disclosure.

There are exceptional circumstances where information may need to be shared without your consent. This may include situations involving an imminent risk of serious harm to you or someone else, safeguarding concerns, serious criminal activity, or where disclosure is legally required.

Where possible, we will discuss concerns with you before information is shared. There may, however, be circumstances where we are unable to do so because of legal requirements.

Couples and Relationship Therapy

Confidentiality applies to everyone participating in therapy, including couples, polyamorous relationships and other relationship structures.

Where appropriate, confidentiality arrangements will be discussed and agreed at the beginning of therapy. Information shared by one participant will not be disclosed to another participant without their explicit consent, unless there is a legal or ethical obligation to do so. Everyone participating should be aware that information shared during a joint session may be heard by those present.

Privacy & Your Information

The Pink Protocol takes the protection of personal information seriously. Client information and therapy records are stored securely and handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

Depending on the services you access, information held may include contact and appointment details, information relevant to your therapy and appropriate clinical records.

You have rights in relation to your personal information, including the right to access your records where legally appropriate.

Online Therapy

Online therapy requires a private and appropriate space where confidentiality can be maintained. Clients are responsible for ensuring they are in a suitable environment for sessions.

If technical difficulties interrupt a session, arrangements for continuing or rescheduling will be discussed.

Contact Between Sessions

Email is intended for appointment arrangements, administrative matters and brief practical queries. It is not a substitute for therapeutic support or crisis intervention.

We aim to respond to emails within one working day.

If we see you outside an appointment, we will respect your privacy and will not engage unless you acknowledge us first.

Supervision

Professional supervision is an important part of ethical therapeutic practice. Therapeutic material may be discussed in supervision where necessary, but client material is anonymised wherever it is discussed in supervision.

Length and Ending Therapy

The length of therapy varies according to the individual, couple or relationship group. Progress and the number of sessions will be reviewed regularly.

Where possible, we encourage two appointments’ notice when ending therapy, allowing time to reflect on the work and support a planned ending.

If The Pink Protocol is unable to provide the appropriate support, we may, where appropriate and with your consent, support you to access an alternative service.

Cancellations

Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged at the full session fee, unless exceptional circumstances are discussed and agreed.

Professional Standards

The Pink Protocol is registered with the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and works in accordance with its ethical framework, professional standards and best-practice guidance.
